1
Select a fresh marshmallow

Stale ones will not puff — squeeze for softness.

2
Use a long stick or metal skewer

Long enough to keep your knuckles off the heat.

3
Roast over glowing embers, not open flame

Flames char the outside and leave the inside cold. Embers toast evenly.

4
Rotate slowly and patiently

Aim for a uniform golden brown all the way around. This takes 2–3 minutes.

5
If it catches fire, do not panic

Blow it out immediately. A little char is a personal choice, not a failure.

6
Let it cool for ten seconds

Molten sugar is roughly the temperature of the sun. Respect it.

7
Assemble a s’more (optional but recommended)

Graham cracker, chocolate square, marshmallow. Press gently.
